Departure of Professor Lakisha Lockhart
CHICAGO, May 19, 2021 – Chicago Theological Seminary announces the departure of Lakisha Lockhart, Assistant Professor of Practical Theology. Dr. Lockhart leaves CTS to join the faculty of Union Presbyterian Seminary. In her short time here, she became well-loved by students and faculty alike. Dr. Lockhart and her family were greatly impacted by the pandemic and after much prayer, discernment, and careful consideration, Lockhart made the decision to leave CTS in order to prioritize her family, as well as her own well-being.
Professor Lockhart said, “Working for Chicago Theological Seminary this past year has been a wonderful experience that has afforded me many valuable opportunities, experiences, and access to brilliant students, scholars, and colleagues. I have learned and grown so much here at CTS and I am very grateful to have been part of this institution and this stellar faculty. I truly wish Chicago Theological Seminary continued growth and flourishing in the future.”
“Professor Lockhart will be truly missed by this community,” states President Stephen Ray. “We created a non-traditional, remote and flexible work situation for Professor Lockhart to join CTS. But unfortunately, the shifts we feel from this pandemic continue to reverberate. This is the outcome of living into our commitments. We wish Lakisha all the best in her future and are grateful for her time at CTS.”
