CTS Welcomes New Writing Center Paraprofessional
CHICAGO – July 26, 2021 – Chicago Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the hire of Clara Mitchell as Writing Center Paraprofessional.
Ms. Mitchell is responsible for delivery of writing services and assisting the Learning Commons with the coordination of such services to all students at Chicago Theological Seminary.
“Clara brings extensive experience working on the craft of writing and on the pedagogy of teaching writing,” said Emily Vogt, PhD, Associate Dean and Director of the MA, STM, and PhD Programs. “We are excited that Clara has degrees in both writing and religion, and with experience in teaching, tutoring, and leading writing workshops. Her particular blend of talents will be well-suited to her task of growing and expanding our writing center, and her experience in providing writing support in the classroom will greatly enhance the student experience at CTS.”
Ms. Mitchell has an MFA in Poetry from Boston University and an MA in Religion and Literature from the University of Chicago Divinity School. She is currently working as a Lecturer at Northwestern University. She is also currently a Writing Instructor at the University of Chicago’s Writing Center, the Little Red Schoolhouse. She has a Certificate in College Teaching: Writing Pedagogy from The Chicago Center for Teaching.

The paraprofessional role also includes providing tutoring services to online and face-to-face international students and U.S. students who have been referred to the Language and Writing Center, collaborating with faculty in assessing, monitoring and enhancing student writing and research need and developing electronic writing resources/tools along for long and short-term research projects
