Preaching, Teaching Sunday School or Bible Study, Outreach to the Homeless
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
We are affiliated with the United Church of Christ, Illinois Conference, and Chicago Metropolitan Association Cluster Five. We are situated in the East Chicago Hegewisch Community. Our mission is to house the homeless one family at a time through “Advocate House”. Membership of the congregation is primarily African-American.
STUDENT PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
Preaching, teaching Sunday School or Bible Study, Outreach to the homeless once a month.
STUDENT PLACEMENT EXPECTATIONS:
We expect the student to be dependable, dedicated and devoted to their assignments: Attend Sunday School, Bible Study, Monthly Minister’s meetings, Special events, and Worship Services.
PHILOSOPHY OF STUDENT SUPERVISION:
I understand my role as coach rather than supervisor. One who supports, encourages, counsels, prays and assists in helping them to discern and fulfill their call to ministry.
