Gender and Theology
Then
In 1902, CTS graduated Florence Fensham, one of the very first women in the United States to prepare for ordination by receiving a Bachelor of Divinity degree. She went on to serve as Professor of Old Testament and Dean of Religious Work at the American School for Girls in Constantinople.

CTS faculty are leaders in addressing feminist and womanist theological concerns. Significant contributors include CTS President Susan Brooks Thistlethwaite, co-editor of Inclusive Language New Testament and Psalms; Professor Joanne Terrell, author of a recent work on suffering from an African American perspective and Professor Laurel Schneider, for her consideration of womens varied religious experience in talking about the Divine.
