Marriage Equality March on Springfield
Posted: September 26th, 2013
Do you care about Marriage Equality in Illinois? Want to do something about it?
On October 22nd there will be a huge rally and march around the capitol in Springfield to urge lawmakers to pass marriage equality this year. Our witness to greater justice and mercy in the world will be historic by attending as CTS religious scholars and leaders and we would would love to have as many people from CTS go if possible.
Tuesday October 22nd
Noon-1 PM: Entertainment
1 PM-2:30 PM: Rally
2:30-3:30 PM: March around Capitol
401 S. 2nd Street
There are many buses from all over the city that are being organized to drive people to the march for $35 round trip and $10 for low income tickets, these seats go quickly so they urge us to reserve seats well in advance which can be done here: http://www.marchonspringfield.org/transport.php. Wear your CTS shirt or if your tradition allows it, a stole, clergy collar or other symbol distinguishing you as a religious leader or clergy person.
Can't go to the march because of classes or other commitments?
You're in luck! There are other ways to be a part of the festivities! Your lawmaker needs to know how you feel about marriage equality in Illinois. On October 22nd while many of us will be at the rally, we will have computers set up on the first floor lobby for you to email your lawmakers directly. While this witness seems as easy as a click of a button, it is important and is something we can do to effect change.
